"This docufilm is about life with sickle cell disorder in the UK and it aims to address the critical gaps in care, awareness, and understanding of this condition. Poor knowledge among healthcare professionals and the public has contributed to suboptimal care and a lack of empathy for those affected.

I was inspired to create this docufilm when I was invited to attend a screening of Black Thrive Haringey’s docufilm which focussed on mental health awareness. The piece was deeply moving, and highlighted to me how powerful film can be for conveying complex issues in a way that is emotionally engaging whilst being educational and accessible to a broad and diverse audience.

SICKLE The Docufilm sheds light on the disorder by showing how it affects individuals, families, and professionals working in the field. It is designed to spark meaningful conversations, and break the taboo surrounding sickle cell disorder, fostering greater awareness and bringing about change.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this film possible."
