The bites, stings, and animal-related injury service at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases offers high-quality, specialised treatment, care, and expert advice to adult patients who have experienced animal or plant-related injuries. 

Our team can provide treatment and advice on a wide range of conditions including:

  • Insect bites and stings
  • Animal bites and stings
  • Plant stings and injuries
  • Infections following animal injuries
  • Advice on exposure to infected animals and animal products
  • Ectoparasite management
  • Animal identification

GPs can refer via eRS see info below: 

  • Specialty: Infectious Diseases
  • Clinic type: Tropical Infections
  • Service name: General Infectious Disease (RAS) – HTD Outpatients – UCLH – RRV

Patients can also be referred from the tropical emergency walk-in service.

The normal working hours for the Communications Unit are Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. The only media enquiries that will be answered outside of these working hours are urgent enquiries and those relating to major incidents. To access the out-of-hours service, call the switchboard on 020 3456 7890.
