Meals are provided (generally three meals and seven drinks daily) and there is a varied choice of daily menus. Meal times vary from ward to ward, but are normally as follows:

  • Breakfast: 8am–9am
  • Lunch: 1pm–2pm
  • Supper: 6pm–7pm.

Menu choices include Afro-Caribbean, halal, kosher and vegetarian options. Vegan, gluten-free and puréed foods can be requested, and low-fat and low-salt diets are also catered for. If you need a special diet, please let the staff know when you are admitted to the ward.

All menus are available in a variety of different languages. You may eat food brought in by visitors, but please check with your nurse whether there are any foods you should not be eating as part of your care plan. We provide nutritional screening for patients weekly and on admission.

Help is available for patients who have difficulty feeding themselves.

For those who have missed meals, hot and cold snack boxes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
