Work experience – students and young people

Full-time students (16-18)

Work experience at UCLH is offered to full-time students aged 16-18 through our partnerships with The Social Mobility Foundation and selected local secondary schools. As we receive a high volume of requests for work experience, we can unfortunately not accommodate students outside of these two programmes. Please consider contacting your local NHS Trust to explore other work experience opportunities.

If you are aged 16-18, have been accepted for a placement with UCLH, and have not yet received your paperwork, please contact your designated host or email uclh.workexperience@nhs.net. Be sure to include your name, the dates of your work experience, and your host area in your email.

For further exploration of NHS careers, the NHS Careers Untapped podcast and webinar series, created by NHS London Trusts, offers insights into diverse career paths through staff stories and career advice. Aimed at young people aged 13-19 and career advisors, each episode highlights the unique roles and journeys within the NHS.

Apprenticeships

Visiting medical student electives

Elective placements at UCLH are organised via UCL Medical School. Please visit https://www.ucl.ac.uk/medical-school/study/undergraduate/visiting-student-electives.

Placements for qualified doctors

Due to existing training commitments, there is limited capacity for clinical attachments/observerships. Please email uclh.enquiry.mdes@nhs.net . Your enquiry will forward your request to the relevant clinical department for them to respond.
