Omnipod 5 users will get a notification on their Omnipod 5 Controller to install a software update (version 2.0). This will enable Omnipod 5 users, if they wish and agreed with the diabetes team, to use FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensors as opposed to the Dexcom G6 sensor (you will also need to be using compatible PODS). The updated software will also allow users to view their Sensor Graph on the Omnipod 5 Controller at 3, 6, 12 and 24 hour intervals, regardless of their sensor.
Omnipod have recommended that following receipt about the software update notification, this is completed as soon as you are able. Users will receive a notification on their Controller screen when the 2.0 software is ready to install. To action the update, you will need to ensure that you have adequate battery levels and strong Wi-Fi connection.
- The Controller battery level must be above 15%.
- You need to be connected to a strong Wi-Fi connection. It could take longer to install the update with a weak Wi-Fi connection.
- When you are ready to install the update, select ‘Update Now’ and follow the on-screen instructions
- During the update you will not be able to navigate within the Omnipod 5 Controller, including the ability to bolus. Automated insulin delivery will continue to deliver in the background.
- Normal use of the Omnipod 5 Controller will resume once the update is complete. The update will not impact insulin delivery settings.
If you are not ready to install the update, select ‘Not Now’ and update at a time convenient. You can manually update at any time from the notification menu (bell icon). Each time you select ‘Not Now’ a notification will reappear after 72 hours until the update is successfully installed.
To manually update:
- Navigate to the home screen.
- Tap the notification bell on the top right of the screen.
- Tap the update notification.
- Tap ‘Update Now’.
