Professional background
After qualifying from King’s College London, Mr Hannan remained in the capital to pursue postgraduate training in otorhinolaryngology (head and neck surgery). This included rotations through centres of clinical and teaching excellence, including Northwick Park, St. Bartholomew’s, Royal London, St. Mary’s, Great Ormond Street, Charing Cross, Chelsea and Westminster, Royal Brompton, Royal Free Hospitals and last but not least at the Royal National ENT Hospital. Mr Hannan has since remained at the Royal Natioanl ENT, being ultimately appointed as a consultant otorhinolaryngologist in 2009.
Mr Hannan currently offers a full general elective and emergency ENT service for adults and children, subspecialising in rhinology and facial plastic surgery, as well as supporting paediatric ENT service. As a modern and progressive consultant, Mr Hannan keeps up to date with the latest treatments and techniques, and has refined his skills in communication. Mr Hannan’s patients regularly feedback about how well he listens, how much they trust him, and how fully they recommended him. Beyond this innate professional desire to always be better in providing safe, patient-centred, high quality care, Mr Hannan enjoys dedicated roles in teaching and training, and indeed is an assigned educational supervisor on the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Programme, a foundation educational supervisor on the NHS ePortfolio, and an honorary clinical associate professor at UCL Medical School.
Research interests
Mr Hannan's current interests focus on clinical and educational research, aiming to maintain the international academic and educational prestige of RNENT Hospital, UCLH NHS Foundation Trust and the wider academic health science centre.
