Professional background

Dr Emily Shaw is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and General Medicine with a specialist interest in Tuberculosis. She delivers care in Infectious Diseases at Hospital for Tropical Diseases and in Acute Medicine at UCLH and holds a joint appointment with UK Health Security Agency, on the national TB Unit.

Her medical studies were at Cambridge University, UCL and LSHTM and her specialist training was in London. She has delivered care in resource-limited settings, including for Medecins Sans Frontieres. Her Wellcome UCL PhD was in BCG vaccinology. She is a tutor on TB at LSHTM DTM&H. Dr Shaw has worked with Find and Treat, piloting the delivery of TB care in secure sites including HM Prisons and Immigration Removal Centres and continues to contribute to work and research on TB in these settings.
