Professional background
Dr Douglas Philpott trained in medicine at the University of Warwick Medical School, following an undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of St Andrews. He completed his anaesthesia training with the London Academy of Anaesthesia before joining UCLH as a consultant in 2024.
His sub-specialty clinical interests include paediatric, obstetric, and developing world anaesthesia. During his training, he undertook advanced fellowships at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, gaining experience in anaesthesia, PICU, and the South Thames Retrieval Service (STRS), as well as at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital.
His clinical expertise was further enriched by his work overseas with the Palestinian Red Crescent, where he volunteered as an anaesthetist, focusing on teaching and supporting their ambulance service.
