Professional background

Dr Trip studied at the University of Edinburgh Medical School and did postgraduate neurological training in London. He is a consultant neurologist and honorary associate professor and divides his time between the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) and Northwick Park Hospital. He is co-chair of the Queen Square multiple sclerosis centre and the NHNN's lead consultant for audit & quality improvement.

At the NHNN, he runs a multiple sclerosis clinic. This is a large clinic for patients with multiple sclerosis and other related CNS inflammatory disorders such as neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD).

He also has a general neurology clinic and looks after in-patients at the NHNN.

He is actively involved in undergraduate & postgraduate training.

Dr Trip has several national roles in the Association of British Neurologists. He is their representative on the Royal College of Physicians' Patient Safety Committee, a member of the Quality Committee,  a member of the MS & Neuroinflammation Advisory Group and the national representative on the European Academy of Neurology MS Advisory Group.

Research interests

Dr Trip completed a PhD at the UCL Institute of Neurology which looked at markers of axonal loss and myelination in patients with optic neuritis.

He is co-chair of the Queen Square multiple sclerosis centre and honorary associate professor in neurology at UCL. He supervises a PhD student and is involved in research studies and clinical trials for patients with optic neuritis, MS and NMOSD.
