My NHS career spans over 30 years. I qualified as a State Registered nurse in the 1970’s and worked in several London teaching hospitals. After my children were born I qualified as a health visitor and spent time working attached to a GP practice visiting families in the community. The later years of my career were spent in management working in both hospitals and in NHS London.
I am also a magistrate and sit in the Central Family Court. Having started as a magistrate more than 10 years ago I remain grateful to the NHS for giving me the time and support to allow me to do this.
As a current patient I have received inpatient, outpatient and emergency care from UCLH. I have always been treated in a professional and competent way by caring staff. As a patient governor I hope to work with the trust to ensure that is the experience of all patients.
The trust faces many challenges in the future and I hope to support the trust in the decisions they make, challenge them where appropriate and represent the interests of patients.
