Executive directors

  • David became chief executive on 31 August 2021. Prior to this, David was chief executive of Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Tim Jaggard was appointed Finance Director in April 2016 having previously held the posts of Interim Finance Director and Deputy Finance Director at UCLH.

  • Geoff Bellingan was appointed Medical Director in September 2009. He previously held posts as Clinical Director and Divisional Clinical Director between 2006 and 2009.

  • Vanessa was appointed to the Board as Chief Nurse in April 2023, having held the role of Deputy Chief Nurse and Head of Nursing for the Surgery & Cancer Board since 2018.

  • Gill was Medical Director for the Specialist Hospitals Board from 2010-2019 and was appointed as medical director, digital healthcare, in October 2019.

  • Tim Hodgson, Consultant in Oral Medicine and Honorary Associate Professor, was appointed Medical Director of the Specialist Hospitals Board UCLH Foundation NHS Trust in November 2019 and joined the Board as an Executive Director in January 2020.

  • Charles House was appointed Medical Director in July 2017 having previously been the interim Medical Director since March 2016.

  • Liz O’Hara was appointed as joint chief people officer across UCLH and Whittington Health in March 2024, having held the role of director of workforce at UCLH since March 2020.

  • Professor Karl Peggs was appointed to the Board in August 2024 as the director of research and director of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) UCLH Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).

  • Johanna Moss was appointed to the Board on 7 January 2025 as the director of strategy. Prior to this Jo was the chief strategy and transformation officer for the North East London Integrated Care Board and she also held the role of director of strategy and partnerships at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for seven years, where she was the lead for their major capital project to build a new hospital and research centre in Camden.

Non-executive directors

  • Baroness Neuberger became UCLH chair on 25 February 2019. Throughout her career, Julia has made an extensive contribution to healthcare policy and management.

  • Dr Junaid Bajwa became a non-executive director at UCLH in September 2018. He was born at UCLH and is a practising GP with experience of serving a deprived London community.

  • Chyrel Brown became a non-executive director at UCLH in May 2022 and was appointed as vice-chair in January 2025.

  • Mark Emberton joined the board as a non-executive director on 1 September 2022. He is Professor of Intervention Oncology within the Division of Surgery and Dean of the Faculty of Medical Science at University College London. 

  • Martin Jacobs joined UCLH as a non-executive director on 1 January 2020. He spent 20 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where he was a Partner within the Corporate Finance division.

  • Simon Porter joined UCLH as a non-executive director on 1 April 2020. He is a chartered accountant whose executive career at the London office of Ernst & Young ranged across audit, corporate finance and risk management.

  • Nailesh Rambhai became an associate non-executive director at UCLH in April 2022. A lawyer by background, he has also acted as group counsel and company secretary to a number of firms including the Coventry Building Society and Petronas.

  • Rob Vincent joined the board as a non-executive director on 1 November 2021. He was an associate non-executive director from 14 October 2020 to 31 October 2021. Rob lives in Islington. He was the Chief Executive of Kirklees in West Yorkshire until 2010.

  • Dr Jonathan Broomberg joined the UCLH Board in January 2025 as a non-executive director. He is currently the CEO of Vitality Health International and Global Head of Health Insurance for the Discovery Group, bringing a wealth of experience in the commercial healthcare sector and global public health and policy.

  • Arif Ahmed is an entrepreneur and private equity investor in healthcare, technology, e-commerce and B2B services companies. He has a proven track record of scaling innovation in complex regulatory environments.
