The Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD) is the national clinical referral centre for patients with infectious and tropical diseases.

Emergency walk-in clinic

The emergency walk-in clinic is an adult (aged 16 yrs and above) clinic for travellers who have returned from the tropics within the last 6 months and are recently unwell with conditions such as fever, diarrhoea, or rash.

We also see patients who have had a potential exposure to rabies and will administer post-exposure rabies treatment if needed after a risk assessment.

Travel clinic

The Travel Clinic at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD) offers a range of services to ensure safe and healthy travel including:

  • Complex travel medicine: Tailored advice and vaccinations for travellers with complex itineraries or health conditions.
  • Organisational screening: Health screenings for employees of organisations who travel frequently.
  • Post-tropical screening: Health checks for individuals returning from tropical regions to identify any potential infections or health issues.

Outpatients

Our outpatient services include consultant and specialist nurse-led clinics. The Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD) serves travellers, migrants, refugees, and those preparing for travel, as well as patients with non-travel-related infections.

Services and clinics include an emergency walk-in clinic, travel clinicRapid Access Infectious Diseases (RAID) service, and Out-patient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT).
