The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), Queen Square, is the UK's largest dedicated neurological and neurosurgical hospital. It provides comprehensive services for the diagnosis, treatment and care of all conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nervous system and muscles. 

Services include specialist neurosurgery, a brain tumour unit, the Hyper-acute Stroke Unit (HASU), an acute brain injury unit, the National Prion Clinic, a pioneering neuro-rehabilitation unit, the UK's first interventional MRI scanner, the largest specialised neurosurgical ITU and the only neuromedical ITU in the country. Together with its neighbour, the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, it is a major international centre for research and training.

Whilst construction work for the new GOSH Children’s Cancer Centre is ongoing, NHNN and RLHIM patients and visitors should take extra care when walking to Queen Square. Please ensure you use the pavement on the south side of Great Ormond Street and use the pedestrian crossings to access NHNN and RLHIM. The map shows the best routes to access Queen Square from local stations and buses.

By rail:

Euston, King’s Cross and St Pancras are all only about 15 minutes walk from the hospital.

By bus:

You can travel on buses and trams using an Oyster or contactless payment card with pay as you go credit, or you can add a Travelcard or Bus & Tram pass to your Oyster card. You are no longer able to use cash to pay for your bus fare.

Nearest tube stations

Russell Square (Piccadilly Line) and Holborn (Central and Piccadilly Lines) are both within walking distance.

Cycling

Parking spaces in the area can be difficult to find.

Blue badge parking

Normal blue badge restrictions apply in Queen Square and streets close to the square. Please check the restrictions of your badge within Camden. There are three disabled bays in Queen Square.

It is recommended that you book help 24 hours before you travel. This enables staff to give you as much information as possible before your travel; make alternative arrangements for you if the station is not step free or not staffed at the time you wish to travel; and ensure that there are enough staff for all the assistance requests at a station.

Help with transport fares

If you are in receipt of benefits you may be entitled to reclaim transport fares when visiting the hospital for an inpatient or outpatient appointment. Please ask the clinic staff for an attendance form and take this to the appropriate hospital's Cashiers Office. Reimbursement can be made at the time of your visit if you can produce evidence that you are a claimant.
